Its botanical name is Sceletium tortuosum. We've chosen to call it Kanna to honour its local roots and the generations who have worked with this remarkable plant.
The San peoples of Southern Africa used Kanna to sharpen awareness, stay centred and move through life with calm focus. It was also a plant of connection, shared in community to open the heart and nurture respect for nature and one another.
Modern research now echoes this ancient wisdom. Kanna’s unique alkaloids gently influence serotonin activity in the brain, helping to lift mood, ease anxiety and support emotional resilience. It’s also valued for enhancing focus, supporting cognitive function and encouraging a sense of grounded calm.
Kanna’s active alkaloids can vary depending on climate and location, which means its effects can differ widely. To ensure a reliable experience, we’ve sourced a Kanna that contains a consistent 0.8% total alkaloids.

Generally, the answer is yes, with a few points to be aware of.
Cacao is stimulating and if you are not used to consuming raw cacao, or other stimulating drinks like black or green tea, yerba mate and coffee, then you may want to start with a very small amount.
Greens are detoxifying and if you are not accustomed to eating greens you could have a strong detox reaction if you start off with too much. We recommend you rather start slowly with small amounts of any of our green superfoods - Lean Superfood Protein Shake, Spirulina, Chlorella, Moringa, Wheatgrass and Barleygrass.
Half to one teaspoon is a good start with just one of them, and then you can build up slowly from there. Greens provide a fantastic array of nutritional elements which is highly beneficial for mother and child. Maca (yellow and black) adjust the hormones. In the second trimester during pregnancy, you need your hormone levels to be higher in some aspects, so maca is not recommended.
Consult with your health practitioner if you are not sure. If you don't like the smell of maca then rather leave it out and do the 'smell test' again in a few months. Kratom we don't recommend for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. It has, however, been safely used by mothers who are breastfeeding and have given us this feedback. If you are not well acquainted with it from before your pregnancy then rather leave it out.
Mucuna we don't recommend for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Superfoods are highly nutritious and are a great nutritional support during a time when you and your child need it the most.

Yes, children can safely enjoy superfoods. We recommend you start with small amounts to see what works for your child and then build up from there.
The different types of maca are distinguished by the colour of the root skin (the actual flesh is very similar in colour).
Black maca is slightly smoother in taste and offers additional benefits including improved memory, concentration, and focus, as well as increased fertility in men. Yellow maca is particularly recommended for women as it improves thyroid function, which is a concern that more women have.
